Abstract

This article approaches the incidence of street harassment (understood as sexual harassment) as a social problem; first of all, a theoretical review of various authors who delved into the subject was made; besides, statistical sources were consulted in order to know the index of sexual harassment in Mexico, arriving at the conclusion that street harassment has become one of the main problems faced by women.
Street harassment has become a normalized act by any society, where the main victims are young women and the main perpetrators of these acts are men; in this sense, unfortunately, it is common for women to be harassed at least once a day.
Patriarchal societies believe that these manifestations of violence are pleasant; men consider to harass women as a right, and they support each other in these acts of power to avoid responsibilities.
