Abstract

This article adopts a transcultural view that takes into account the increasing interconnectedness of cultures in a transnational world of hypermobility. Within this current scenario, investigating the interrelations between translation and feminisms from a transnational perspective is considered a particularly interesting area of study. Therefore, some key theoretical concepts within this research framework have been borrowed in order to approach the literary work of the writer Jhumpa Lahiri. Her latest work also allows us to apply the translation theories of transnational feminism to the practice of self-translation. In the last section of this article we will analyse some fragments from Lahiri's Italian novel Dove mi trovo and from her self-translation into English entitled Whereabouts that are significant in this sense.
