1. Aims, focus, scope and ownership
Culture, Language and Representation (CLR) is a 6-monthly academic publication dedicated to the field of Culture and Linguistic Studies, the scope of which is aimed at the international academic community.
The journal is committed to academic and research excellence by publishing relevant material that meets high scientific standards, and that is why the original authors of the works under publication are required.
The submission of a document shall be deemed to imply that it is not published and that its publication elsewhere is not being considered. The articles will be independently evaluated by double-blind peer per review (external anonymous evaluators), who will advise the publishers on the suitability of their publication.
To publish elsewhere an article included in the CLR needs the author's recognition that it first appeared in the journal. If in doubt, authors are encouraged to contact publishers.
The content of the articles is original as they are research papers, original research articles or bibliographic reviews.
If funding has been available for the realization of the article, you must expressly indicate it (research project code, funding agency...). It should be mentioned by the authors in the acknowledgements.
In Culture, Language and Representation, good practices are carried out in gender equality. Inclusive language should be used in scientific articles. The Full Name of the authors must be explicit in the Bibliography. If the research source data take gender into account it should be pointed out in order to allow identification of possible differences.
The journal Culture, Language and Representation is owned by the Universitat Jaume I, a Spanish public university.
2. Peer evaluation process
The articles will be independently evaluated by two anonymous blind evaluators, who will advise the editors on the suitability of their publication.
At least 50% of the evaluators are external to the Editorial Board and the Universitat Jaume I.
To evaluate the articles, the reviewer is provided with an evaluation form and clear instructions. The criteria evaluated include originality, relevance, and methodological rigour.
If evaluators propose suggestions for improvement, once made by the authors, evaluators will have to accept the modifications before final approval of the article.
3. Frequency of publication
Culture, Language and Representation publishes in May and in November.

6. Content dissemination policies and bibliographies. Interoperability protocols
The articles are published in various formats (PDF, HTML and/or epub) to facilitate hypertext and automatic content processing.
Each article shows how to reference it (how to cite) and offers options for different standards (APA, Harvard, ISO, Vancouver or others).
The OJS platform uses an OAI-PMH interface (Open Archives Initiative - Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) that allows interoperability protocols so that other portals and information services can access the metadata of the published content according to the Dublin Core format.
Specifications: OAI-PMH Protocol and Dublin Core Metadata.

7. Digital Files Conservation and Preservation Policy
To guarantee the authenticity, integrity and accessibility of the articles over time, the issues of the journal are archived in the
Universitat Jaume I Repository.
The conservation and preservation policy includes, among others, the following preservation measures: use of digital preservation metadata, assignment of DOI and handle as permanent identifiers, monitoring of the technological environment to anticipate possible migrations of formats or software, open or easily readable formats (such as PDF format), backup copies.
Jaume I University Library periodically reviews the digital preservation policy.
8. Gender Equality Policy
Culture, Language, and Representation is committed to promoting equality among people regardless of gender, giving visibility to women's scientific work, and promoting inclusive language in scientific publications.
Specifically, through the following actions:
- Maintaining a balanced percentage of women and men in the Management, Editorial Secretariat, Editorial Board, and Advisory Board.
- Compliance with a minimum percentage of 40% women as reviewers of papers submitted to the journal.
- Requires the use of inclusive language in scientific articles. Inclusive language recognizes diversity, respects everyone, considers differences, and promotes equal opportunities. Articles will not contain assumptions about readers' beliefs or affiliations and will avoid any assertion of superiority based on race, sex, culture, or any other characteristic. Articles will use language free of bias, using terms that avoid stereotypes. In this regard, it is recommended that you consult the Basic Guide for the Use of Gender-neutral Language.
- It requires information on whether the research source data considers gender to identify possible differences.
- Authors of articles must include the full names of the authors of the published works.
9. Access, structure, and web features
Each journal issue features a table of contents that allows direct access to the articles. Articles and reviews are easily identifiable.
The OJS features a search engine that facilitates access to the content.

10. Regulations on the use of Artificial Intelligence tools in the writing, editing, reviewing, and reusing of content
- The writing of any part of an article using a generative AI/LLM tool, including the generation of the abstract or the literature review, will not be permitted.
- The generation or reporting of results using a generative AI/LLM tool is not permitted, and the reporting of statistics in the text using a generative AI/LLM tool is not permitted.
- Editing an article using a generative AI/LLM tool to improve its language and readability would be permissible, as this reflects standard tools already employed to improve spelling and grammar and utilizes existing material created by the author rather than generating entirely new content. In contrast, the author(s) remain responsible for the original work.
- Submitting and publishing images created by artificial intelligence tools or large-scale generative models is prohibited.
- If a chatbot (ChatGPT, Deepseek, Gemini, Copilot, etc.) or another artificial intelligence tool is cited in your research, please detail its use in the methodological explanation and follow the APA guidelines below:
- A detailed description of how this tool was used (tool name, version, creator, etc.) must be provided in our academic work.
- The text used in the query, as well as any relevant parts of the text generated in the response, must be provided in the body of the work.
- Citations in the chatbot text should be in the following format: (OpenAI, 2023) (Deepseek, 2025).
- Final references should follow this structure: Model author (year). Model name in italics (version). [Model description]. Developer. URL (e.g., OpenAI. (2023). ChatGPT (March 14th version) [Wide Language Model]. https://chat.openai.com/chat)
