Resumen
La embajada hispánica en Londres ocupó durante el siglo XVII un papel determinante no solo en las relaciones diplomáticas con la monarquía inglesa, sino como foco de referencia y amparo para el catolicismo inglés. Así, fueron numerosos los católicos ingleses que encontraron refugio de mano de la institución española. Con la intención de ilustrar la influencia que los embajadores españoles ejercieron, se presenta en este estudio una semblanza de Anne Jay, como caso paradigmático en el que el destino de una católica inglesa se vio inexorablemente vinculado al desempeño de los embajadores y al propio devenir de la Embajada.
