Resum
Este texto aborda el estudio de un nuevo modelo de orden arquitectónico, el orden Delhi, en el contexto de construcción de una nueva capital británica en India. El estudio se centra en la revisión de las interpretaciones previamente establecidas, el análisis de las fuentes y la reconstrucción 3D de los diseños de Edwin Lutyens. En el desarrollo de este trabajo se sientan las bases de nuevas interpretaciones del origen de los elementos formales del capitel y las razones de su simbolismo. Finalmente se establecen las pautas interpretativas de su uso como símbolo imperial, para entender las contradicciones de su simultáneo éxito y fracaso como forma de representación del poder.
