La demografía histórica castellonense durante la Edad Moderna. Aproximación a un estado de la cuestión

Abstract

After a brief introductory note explaining the recentness of the studies on Valencian historical demography, a detailed account of the literature on the population in the area of Castellón is given. The list -given in order and commented on-, reviews publications on sources, on the evolution of numbers from neighbourhood and parish registries, on concrete demographic variables, etc. The last part dedicated to the present state of knowledge, shows the general demographic evolution of the whole of Castellón (both from census sources and from a sample of parish registries), and ends with a reference to the main demographic characteristics, obtained from the few studies that have included the reconstruction of families in our regions.
