Abstract

The solar simbology representing hispanic kings during the 17th and the 18th centuries hardly carne to fruition in those chamber portraits painted or sculptured by court artists, whereas it bore fruit in the french court. The Sun king’s iconographic fabrication in Spain developed through engraving portraits, which made the spreading of this ideologic image easier thanks to the large circulation of engravings.
