El EL MOTÍ DE PUÇOL EL 16 DE JUNY DE 1680. UNA REVOLTA DE SUSBISTÈNCIA AL REGNE DE VALÈNCIA

Abstract

The poverty of the population of the town of Puçol after several adverse harvests was very serious. At the time of paying the manor's taxes, the neighbours tried to convince the landowners to cooperate in the payment. The refusal to the proposal caused tempers to explode and several riots took place on June 16, 1680, which prompted the intervention of the Archbishop of Valencia as lord of the town and of civil justice. It is a subsistence revolt in the region of “l’Horta de Valencia” in the second half of the 17th century.
