El carácter ejemplar del corcho en la montaña media mediterránea: los aprovechamientos forestales residuales

Abstract

The Mediterranean mountain, domineering in wide zones ofthe Iberian Peninsula, faces from the 70s of the XXth century a serious problem for the lack of integral management and for the loss of an economic function. After centuries of intense exploitation, at present only the wood(residual utilization) and the cork, as well as some emergent products (mushrooms and truffles) support the profitability of the forests, situation that complicates the future of the forest spaces, which are clearly majority in the rural area.
