Focus and Scope

Millars: Espai i Història, is the bi-annual journal of the Department of History, Geography, and Art of the University Jaume I. It is published in hardcopy, with a new digital, open access format available online. The current updated version of the journal, which has enjoyed more than forty years of continuous publication, is intended to widen both the audience and the reach of the journal, as well as to ensure the highest levels of excellence in content, while providing for its continued publication well into the future. The themes treated in the journal are not limited to any spatial or temporal constraint within the subject areas covered.  Articles submitted must be original, and not previously published. Authors cede publication rights to the journal.

Submissions are subject to a double-blind, peer-review process.  Referees may recommend publication contingent upon suggested changes. The final decision regarding publication rests with the Editorial Board of the journal, which bases its decision on the recommendations of the referees, in consultation with the editor of each monographic number of the journal.

The first number of the journal appeared in 1974, under the name Millars: Revista del Colegio Universitario de Castellón de la Plana  (Millars: Journal of the University of Castellón de la Plana).  In 1992, the journal found a new home in the Department of History, Geography, and Art at the University Jaume I de Castelló.  In 2015 it became a bi-annual publication.

The directors of the journal determine a monographic theme for each issue, which the editorial board entrusts to outstanding historians at universities and research centers worldwide by selecting an editor for each monographic issue. The journal also considers proposals from scholars for possible monographic topics. Each number of the journal also contains a section entitled "Estudios/Studies," in which are published essays dealing not with the monographic theme, but rather with other topics in the journals purview.
