Resum
Aquest article, integrat en un projecte més ampli, “La digitalització i la publicació en línia de recursos terminològics sensibles al gènere” (DIGITENDER), se centra en una metodologia i un enfocament basats en corpus per aprofundir en el llenguatge metafòric que envolta la menstruació. El seu objectiu principal és il·lustrar les expressions figuratives prevalents i les seues implicacions en les percepcions socials sobre la salut i la menstruació de les dones. Observant un corpus rellevant i representatiu sobre el tema, les nostres troballes subratllen una notable concentració temàtica en metàfores relacionades amb la salut i la higiene. No obstant això, la majoria d'elles, malgrat la seua naturalesa centrada en la ciència, tenen un rerefons significativament negatiu, perpetuant estereotips que presenten la menstruació com una experiència desfavorable i estigmatitzada. Aquest estudi situa la menstruació dins d'un context social més ampli, revelant una inclinació generalitzada a camuflar aquest fenomen natural. Tot i ser un aspecte fonamental de la vida de les dones, les metàfores sovint retraten la menstruació com un esdeveniment advers, una circumstància fosca o un tabú persistent, el qual transcendeix les fronteres culturals i històriques. En posar el focus sobre aquests matisos lingüístics, aquesta investigació contribueix a una comprensió més completa de la llengua utilitzada per parlar de la menstruació. A través d'aquesta exploració i avaluació, defensem un canvi cap a un discurs inclusiu i empàtic al voltant del discurs de la salut de les dones.
