Resum

Aquest article explora la memòria postcolonial i la representació racial a Lisboa a través d’un estudi de cas etnogràfic de l’estàtua del general Marquês de Sá da Bandeira i Andreza da Pina. Si bé l’estàtua commemora el paper de Sá da Bandeira en l’abolició de l’esclavatge, també reflecteix el passat colonial idealitzat de Portugal i el silenciament de les veus dels afectats per l’esclavatge
i els seus descendents. Centrant-se en les perspectives afrodescendents i examinant les pràctiques del patrimoni urbà, l’article destaca la necessitat urgent de descolonitzar la memòria pública i reconstruir narratives històriques inclusives a través del discurs crític, l’activisme i les noves pràctiques de memòria.
