Resumen

This paper focuses on the control that the National Socialists exercised on artistic representation, both in formal and thematic levels, in order to deploy all image related resources in to serve political propaganda. From this perspective we will approach the main guidelines and features of the Nazi aesthetics: aestheticism of politics, colossalism, construction of the image of the charismatic leader, representation of the organic unit of the nation and of the eternal essences of “being German”, identification of the healthy and the beautiful as criteria for the representation of the human body, and the rejection of modern art as degenerate art.
