Estrés psicológico de los intérpretes simultáneos de árabe

Resumen

Esta investigación esclarece el estrés psicológico al que se enfrentan los intérpretes que dominan el binomio de lenguas árabe <> inglés. Mediante una encuesta de cinco puntos, el estudio trata de determinar las percepciones de estos intérpretes simultáneos sobre los elementos que más les estresan durante sus compromisos profesionales. Los resultados ponen de relieve que los principales factores desencadenantes del estrés son una remuneración insuficiente, un mayor sentido de la responsabilidad por el contenido interpretado y la falta de cooperación de la clientela privada. Al mismo tiempo, aproximadamente dos tercios de los factores de estrés identificados generan niveles moderados de estrés; entre ellos se incluyen las terminologías especializadas, la visibilidad inadecuada del orador y la necesidad de viajar con frecuencia, entre otros muchos factores. Además, las manifestaciones médicas de este estrés son sobre todo la irritación de garganta, caracterizada por sequedad y dolores de cabeza, seguida de problemas de concentración, somnolencia, dolor de espalda, fatiga, irritación ocular y tasas mínimas de insomnio. Las implicaciones de esta investigación podrían contribuir significativamente al conjunto de conocimientos existentes sobre la dinámica del estrés en los ámbitos de la traducción y la interpretación, así como abordar las preocupaciones centradas en el ser humano en el contexto de la interpretación judicial.
