The Town of Biar transformed during the moors and christians festivities

Abstract
The public space during the fetivities of Moors and Christians in the town of Biar (Alicante) is transformed from its usual use to a medieval setting in the streets and squares where the parades and processions take place during these holidays on may 10,11,12 and 13.
The festivities of this town have served as a lever to shape the construction of the houses during the last two centuries. The parades and processions have revalued these spaces.Therefore, there has been a direct connection between festivals and urban planning in the town. Desirée Juliana Colomer in her doctoral thesis has concluded that in the city of Valencia in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries there was a configuration of the city conditioned by the festivities and processions. Keeping the distances, in Biar there has also been this festive-urban connection.
