Abstract

VINSEUM, Museum of the Wine Cultures of Catalonia (an updated version of the old Museum of Vilafranca – The Wine Museum) is fortunate to continue growing and adapting to the cultural changes of society. The museum continues to refine its look at the history of wine and its constant evolution, and it does so as a central pillar as well as a transversal axis that connects a local tradition with a universal culture. The institution has undergone many changes since its origins in 1935, obviously marked by the historical development, but also by the original will to provide the city with a museum institution that guarantees the safeguarding of local cultural heritage. The museum also wishes to become the first reference in the study and dissemination of wine legacy. The article summarizes its history, zooms in on one of its most universal areas of its permanent exhibition, the After dinner, and details examples of current projects that will surely mark its projection and define its cultural action program: the Most International Wine Film Festival and the VilaPensa – Penedès Philosophy Festival. A three-part article that aims to explain why VINSEUM is projected as a public institution that wants to be a reference for the history of Catalan wine.
