Resum

Emmarcat en el gir fenomenològic que han experimentat els estudis literaris en les darreres dècades, aquest article analitza la narrativa vital d'Oliver Sacks a Uncle Tungsten (2001) i Gratitude (2015) com a textos que representen l'acte de la percepció corporal des del punt de vista de la relació de l'ésser amb els objectes. Sacks es mostra en aquestes obres autobiogràfiques com el que Maurice Merleau-Ponty va descriure com el cos fenomenològic, un cos dotat de sentits amb una funció activa i intencional –en el sentit fenomenològic de l'acció orientada cap a alguna cosa– pel que fa a la percepció de si mateix, la natura i l'altre. Aquest article presenta la narrativa de Sacks com un brillant exemple literari de la concepció que Gilbert G. Germain té de la fenomenologia de la percepció de Merleau-Ponty com el retorn a un món permeat per una visió afectiva, lírica i enigmàtica de la ciència en la que la percepció corporal dels objectes de la naturalesa és essencial per al reconeixement d'un mateix i de l'entorn.
