La traducción de los culturemas en el doblaje y la subtitulación de Mad Men

Abstract
Resumen: La ficción televisiva estadounidense, y concretamente las sitcom, ha experimentado un gran auge en las últimas décadas. En ellas, los culturemas presentan un reto constante para el traductor. Así, el presente trabajo tiene como objetivo fundamental analizar los culturemas en el doblaje y subtitulado de la serie Mad Men (Weiner, 2007). Tras realizar una breve aproximación al concepto de culturema, proponemos un modelo de ficha de análisis para estudiar su traducción en el doblaje y subtitulado de los tres primeros episodios de la primera temporada de dicha serie. Obtuvimos un total de 58 fichas y los resultados extraídos se clasificaron en torno a cuatro categorías (medio natural, patrimonio cultural, cultura social y cultura lingüística), que nos permitieron apreciar una cierta tendencia a la extranjerización tanto en el doblaje como en el subtitulado.

Abstract: American television fiction, and mainly sitcoms, have dramatically increased in popularity in the last years. As a consequence, cultural references are a continuous challenge for audiovisual translators. This paper aims to analyse the cultural references in the dubbing and subtitling of the television series Mad Men (Weiner, 2007). After lying out our working definition of cultural reference, we suggest an analysis based on an analytical data sheet in order to study cultureme translation into Spanish of the first three episodes of the first season of Mad Men. A total of 58 tokens were obtained, and the results were classified into four categories (natural environment, cultural heritage, social culture, andlinguistic culture). The results show a certain tendency to foreignization both in dubbing and subtitling.
