Abstract

The article tackles the genre of science fiction in film by focusing on the Alien and Predator series and their crossover. By resorting to “the fictional worlds” theory (Dolezel, 1998), the relationship between the fictional and the real is examined so as to show how these films refract political issues in various symbolic
ways, with special reference to the ideological construct of “global threat”.
