The languages of the Greeks

Abstract

This article addresses the issue of minority languages in Greece. It attempts to present a neutral and objective account of the available data, while acknowledging the limitations of the evidence. It also addresses the most contentious issues, given that Greece does not officially recognise any linguistic minorities on its territory. The sociolinguistic context is illustrated with historical and linguistic maps from Wikipedia.
