Abstract
Emperor Julian’s tolerance proved so dangerous that it was fought expeditiously, even so far as his opponents turning him and his image into Evil Personified. With this aim, fictitious crimes and martyrdoms were imputed to him, and a centuries-long stereotype was created. This stereotype represented the annihilation of the enemy, not only of the pagan, but also of the heretic. Julian and his crimes became a sort of metaphor for the defeat that God inflict to the rivals of the official Cristian Church.
