Abstract

In the thirteenth century, images of praying persons assisting the divine narration began to appear throughout the West. Product of the consolidation of the affective via of the image, these representations had as their ultimate goal the salvation of the soul of the represented. However, the emergence of this type of images outside the intimate spaces - chapel and oratory - will induce to raise the public considerations proper to them. The objective of this article will be to study the socio-political implications of the praying representations of Isabel I of Castile and Juana I of Castile.
