1. Focus and scope

Potestas. Estudios del Mundo Clásico e Historia del Arte is a periodical scientific publication that offers historical research focused on analyzing the relationships between Religion, Monarchy, and Power, from the classical world to the modern world. Its objective is to disseminate relevant proposals for the international academic community within History and History of Art. To this end, throughout its twelve years of existence, it has fulfilled its commitment to publishing original contributions with high scientific content, following the international parameters of research in these subjects.

2. Peer review process

After receiving the article, an editor is assigned to the proposal, who will guide the author through the editing process on behalf of the journal's editorial committee. The editorial committee then assigns two reviewers to each text. Acceptance of articles for publication depends on two anonymous revisions (double-blind peer review). After the review, the editorial team decides on the publication of the proposal and informs the author within a maximum period of 6 months. Submission of a paper for evaluation implies that it is not previously published and is not evaluated for another publication.

3. Frequency of publication

The journal Potestas: Estudios del Mundo Clásico e Historia del Arte is part of the Universitat Jaume I Publications Service, in collaboration with the Department of History, Geography and Art. It is published electronically, with open access, every six months in January and July (from 2016 to 2020 it was June and December). Thanks to its edition on the OJS, the issues and articles can be consulted or downloaded from the website, thus facilitating access to scientific works.

4. Open access policy

Potestas. Estudios del Mundo Clásico e Historia del Arte provides immediate free access to its content under the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global knowledge exchange.

Open Access to science contributes to research and teaching in the context of the information society and to the dissemination of science.

For open access to the journal Potestas. Estudios del Mundo Clásico e Historia del Arte, we understand its free availability on the Internet for all users to read, download, copy, distribute or print, with the possibility of searching or linking to the full text of the article, use it for any other legal purpose, without any financial, legal or technical barriers other than the fundamental one of accessing the Internet. The only limit to reproduction and distribution and the only function of copyright in this context is to guarantee authors control over their work's integrity and the right to be recognized and cited, protected by the internationally recognized Creative Commons licenses.

Potestas. Estudios del Mundo Clásico e Historia del Arte, in addition to a policy that supports the promotion of access to and exchange of culture free of charge, admits materials to publication under the Creative Commons license.

5. Copyright and the license notice

Copyright is a law that gives the owner of a work the right to say how others may use it. Copyright licenses detail the rights to publish, distribute, and use the research. Potestas requests authors to have their article openly accessible online by accepting the Terms and Conditions that entail the transfer of their work to the platform to comply with publication requirements and thus ensure the widest possible dissemination of their work.
