Reflexiones en torno a la vida del senador y gobernador de la Hispania Citerior L. NovioRufo

Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of a character little treated by modern historiography, L. Novio Rufo. From him the información we know is rather scarce as it happens with other characters of the period like Tib. Claudio Cándido. However, it had a prominent role in the times of Marcus Aurelius, Commodus, Pertinax and the early part of the reign of Septimius Severus. From him, his role as governor of Hispania Citerior stands out. Of its activity in this province has only reached us a procedure of its management through a registration. Finally, his fall from grace occurred in 197 AD when he positioned himself on the side of Clodius Albinus in the struggle for the imperial throne
