Verses and chisels. About the Song of Roland and a Carolingian sculpture.
Main Article Content
Abstract
Plastic arts and literature have been related in many ways throughout history. The ruling classes have been aware of this fact, so that artistic production has a wide repertoire in the specific case of images of power. The aim of this paper is to reflect on this link, through the analysis of a text (La Chanson de Roland) and a small equestrian sculpture (Charlemagne?); and to determine whether it is possible to classify it as a work of world literature, comparing it to works that already own that description.
