About the Journal
Focus and Scope
The Museum of Contemporary Art Vicente Aguilera Cerni in Vilafamés, with the help of the Castellón Provincial Council and the Jaume I University, publishes the journal Diferents. Revista de museus annually. This journal is configured as a space for meeting, debate and reflection on different aspects related to museology. Make visible and disseminate museums that due to their characteristics could be considered unique, both nationally and internationally. Article processing charge (APC): Diferents. Revista de museus does not require any type of fee or consideration for the publication of articles.
Peer Review Process
The papers presented to Diferents. Revista de museus will be submitted to the confidential evaluation of two external experts. In the case of modifications are proposed in the writing of the original, it will be the responsibility of the editor -once the author has been informed- of the follow-up of the process of reworking the article. If it is not accepted for editing, the opinions issued by the evaluators will be sent to its author. In any case, the originals that are not subject to the editing rules of this journal will be returned to their authors for correction, before being sent to the reviewers.

Diferents. Revista de museus has an annual publication frequency.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate free access to its content under the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global knowledge exchange. The texts published in this journal are subject to the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, which allows the paper to be copied, distributed and publicly communicated, provided that the author and the name of the publication are specified. It also allows you to remix, transform and create derivative papers from the material, although in this case, you must spread your contributions under the same license as the original.
Copyright and License Notice
Copyright is a law that gives the owner of a paper the right to say how other people can use it. Copyright licenses spell out the rights to publish, distribute and use research. The journal Diferents. Revista de museus requests that the authors consent that their article is open access and online by accepting the Terms and Conditions that entails the transfer of their paper to the OJS platform, to comply with the publication requirements and therefore ensure the widest possible dissemination of your work. Thus, the authors who publish in this journal agree to the following terms:
- The authors non-exclusively assign the exploitation rights (reproduction, distribution, public communication, transformation) to the Museum of Contemporary Art Vicente Aguilera Cerni and the Jaume I University, so they can establish, separately, agreements additional for the non-exclusive distribution of the version of the work published in the journal (for example, hosting it in an institutional repository or publishing it in a book), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in this journal.
- This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license (CC BY-SA 4.0). The informative version can be consulted here and the legal text of the license here.
- Authors are allowed and encouraged to electronically disseminate their papers, since it favors their earlier circulation and dissemination and thus a possible increase in their citation and reach among the academic community.

Submission of Articles
Authors will omit their name, as well as the university or body to which they belong, to ensure blind peer review. To deliver the articles, it is necessary to register through this platform (Open Journal Systems) at the following link: http://www.e-revistes.uji.es/index.php/diferents/user/register
The system allows you to register for free as well as upload files.
In the case that the article presented is signed by more than one author, the criteri chosen to decide the order of signature must be informed, as well as explain what the especific contribution made by each of the authors of the work has been.
For the authors, who have published in an issue of Diferents. Revista de museus, a waiting period of two consecutive years is established to be able to send another proposal.
Information on the editorial process and deadlines
The average number of weeks between article submission and publication is 24. The time estimate is as follows:
- The Journal's management receives the articles and assigns the editors in charge (2 weeks).
- Selection of two external referees for each article by blind review (2 weeks).
- The referees send their reports on the editor proposing: a) acceptance of the article, b) acceptance with modifications o, c) non-acceptance (3 weeks).
- The referees' reports are sent to the author/s and, if necessary, a deadline is settled for the revised article (3 weeks).
- The author/s upload the revised article to the platform, accompanied by a report on the changes made (2 weeks).
- The editors revise the modifictions made (3 weeks) and proceed to the acceptance of the article. If the modifications are not accepted, the authors are notified so that they can proceed with the necessary adaptation (2 weeks).
- The editors send the article to layout (1 week).
- The article is formated and the proof is sent to the authors (5 weeks).
- The Journal's management publishes the number (november/december).
Information policy on funding sources
All authors are required to state what financial support they have received to carry out their investigation. Financial support, from both public and private entities, that has existed for data collection, analysis or interpretation of the results or even for the drafting of the text of the article should be clearly indicated at the time of submission. Each author must declare individually all information concerning sources of funding received for the research submitted to this journal. This information must be declared in two different sections:
In metadata: when entering article metadata, this information must be included. The complete reference (name of the funder, ID of the funder, grant number) must be entered in the metadata section «Fund data».
In the article: it will be indicated in a footnote at the end of the title of the article, by an asterisk and not by a consecutive numbering. At the time of submitting the article to the evaluation, this reference must respect the requirement of anonymity and a formula such as: * «This article belongs to project xxxx, ref. yyyy»
Anti-plagiarism policiy
The reviever, and its team, promote an honest, transparent and truthful investigation, rejecting any practices of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, falsification or fraudulent use of data. Throughout the editorial process the articles will be reviewed prior to their acceptance through the Oxciso program, managed through the Lybrari Service of the Universitat Jaume I.
Diferents. Revista de museus only accepts original and unpublished works. Therefore, does not take any plagiarism, as well as self-plagiarism practices that do not correctly identify the source in a footnote and exceed 15% of the total content of the work.
Open Science
Authors are encouraged to deposit supplementary material, at least the research data underlying the publications, in institutional or thematic open acces repositories federated in the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). Authors from the Universitat Jaume I (UJI) wil be able to deposit their research in the institutional repository of the university. Information about the deposit of research data in a repositoy should be mentioned in the article, by describing the type of data deposited an the URL of the repository or the identifier code.
Interoperability Protocols
The OJS platform uses an OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative - Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) interface that allows other portals and information services to acces the metadata of published content according to the Dublin Core format.

Digital Conservation Policies
To ensure the authenticity, integrity and accessibility of the articles over time, the issues of the journal are archived in the Universitat Jaume I Repository.
The conservation policy includes, among others, the following measures:
- Use of digital preservation metadata.
- Assignment of DOI and handle, as permanent identifiers.
- Monitoring of the technological environment to anticipate eventual format or software migrations.
- Open or easyly readable formats (such as PDF).
- Back-up copies.
- The Universitat Jaume I Library periodically reviews the digital preservation policy.
Regulations on the use of Artificial Intelligence tools in the writing, editing, reviewing, and reusing of content
The writing of any part of an article using a generative AI/LLM tool, including the generation of the abstract or the literature review, wil not be permitted.
The generation or reporting of results using a generatie AI/LLM tool is not permitted.
Editing an article using a generative AI/LLM tool to improve its language and readability would be permissible, as this reflects standard tools already employed to improve spelling and grammar and utilizes existing material created by the author rather than generating entirely new content. In contrast, the author(s) remain responsible for the original work.
Submitting and publishing images created by artificial intelligence tools or large-scale generative models is prohibited.
If a chatbot (ChatGPT, Deepseek, Gemini, Copillot, etc.) or another artificial intelligence tool is cited in your research, please detail its use in the methodological explanation and follow the APA guidelines below:
- A detailed description of how this tool was used (tool name, version, creator, etc.) must be provided in our academic work.
- The text used in the query, as well as any relevant parts of the text generated in the response, must be provided in the body of the work.
- Citations in the chatbot text should be in the following format: (OpenAI, 2023) (Deepseek, 2025).
- Final references should follow this structure: Model author (year) Model name in italics (version). [Model description]. Developer. URL (e.g.: OpenAI (2023) ChatGPT (March 14th version) [Wide Language Model]. https://chat.openai.com/chat).
