Russian Queer Poetry
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper aims to examine the Russian poetry from a queer prism. To achieve this objective, it traces the evolution of the queer concept in Western academic discourse and its reception within the Russian context and literature. It also analyzes the intricate and particularly complex struggle between state power and civil society activism for LGTBIQ+ rights. Additionally, the paper provides a comprehensive review of the key poets and their works. This study intends to offer a novel perspective to Spanish-speaking audiences, presenting an alternative view of Russian literature, its poetry, and its potential to contribute to a universal discourse on the diversity of sensibilities and queer existences. In this context, Russian queer poetry emerges as a resilient tool that has historically defied the boundaries imposed by oppression while serving as a secure haven for both writers and readers to express themselves and connect in a vulnerable yet dignified manner.
