Abstract

The aim of this article is to approach the online aesthetic community called Dark Academia, taking the film Dead Poets Society (Peter Weir, 1989) as an aesthetic object. Over the last few years, aesthetics, understood as communities or subcultures, have become increasingly popular on social networks, becoming a focus of escape during the pandemic. Numerous elements or practices have been used to shape the visual imaginary, so in this article we will examine one of its essential films. Starting from various theoretical suggestions around the concept of atmosphere, we will analyse the film with the intention of discovering the aspects that permeate the Dark Academia.
