Abstract

This article analyzes the intellectual itinerary of the Venezuelan philosopher Antonio Pasquali. The object is to think the theoretical displacements in his academic trajectory, which drove him from philosophy to communication and culture.

The analysis is approached from the theoretical methodological cross of intellectual history and culture sociology, to think his academic production related to wider institutional, social and cultural processes. In this way, it inquires into his formation in the Central University of Venezuela, his stay in La Sorbonne and the Filmology courses as well as the intellectual debates of which he was a part.

To inquire the trajectory of one of the “founding fathers” of the discipline from this methodological frame, enables a productive look to think the different modalities of institutionalization in Latin America of the question for the communication. At the same time, makes emerge the multiple dimensions that played a role and that were configuring a knowledge renewal process and institutionalization of communication problems in the early sixties
