Abstract
Las religiones constituyen una de las manifestaciones culturales más preciadas de la humanidad y una fuente de sabiduría. En ellas se encuentran depositadas algunas de las preguntas sobre el origen y el futuro del universo, el destino de la humanidad y el sentido o sinsentido de la existencia humana. Con frecuencia las instituciones religiosas han operado como fuente de fanatismo e intolerancia y como factor de violencia. La humanidad necesita religiones que fomenten la cooperación pacífica entre los pueblos y el reconocimiento de todas las culturas.
Religions constitute one of humankind's most valued cultural manifestations, as well as being a source of wisdom. They embrace questions on the origin and future of the universe, the destiny of mankind and the meaning, or meaninglessness, of human existence. Religious institutions have frequently operated as a source of fanaticism and intolerance, and as a violent factor. Humanity needs religions that encourage peaceful cooperation between its peoples and the recognition of all its cultures.
