Abstract

The switchover to DTT releases the digital dividend. The emergence of this new space is an opportunity to overcome the radio spectrum scarcity that in recent years has been highly increased their demand because of the introduction of new wireless communication services such as 3G mobile phones or mobile broadband. With the advent of the digital dividend in the band allocated to broadcasting a few questions arise about what priority should be given to services that could be potentially developed in it. Broadly speaking, these services could be divided in two major groups, services of audiovisual nature, on the one hand, and those related to electronic communications, on the other. This article examines these two options and their implications.
