ABSTRACT: Culture encompasses three highly inter-related spheres of publicly funded culture, commercial culture and home-made culture. Cultural policy-making therefore needs to address many issues beyond traditional concerns.

RESUM: La cultura presenta tres formes estretament interrelacionades: la cultura amb finançament públic, la cultura comercial i la cultura casolana. Per tant, les polítiques culturals han de tractar molts aspectes a banda dels tradicionals.

RESUMEN: La cultura engloba tres ámbitos estrechamente interrelacionados: la cultura con financiación pública, la cultura comercial y la cultura hecha en casa. Por lo tanto, las políticas culturales deben tratar muchos aspectos más allá de los tradicionales.

John Holden, Visiting Professor, City University, London Associate, Demos

John Holden has been involved in numerous major projects in the cultural sector across music, film, theatre, heritage, museums and libraries, dealing with issues of cultural policy, cultural diplomacy, leadership, the creative industries and learning. He has worked with Governments, funding bodies, trusts and foundations, agencies, and many major cultural organisations, including the Royal Shakespeare Company, the British Museum, British Council, V&A, and Tate. He is a Trustee of the Hepworth, Wakefield, a member of the Strategy Committee of the Clore Leadership Programme, and to the Arts and Humanities Advisory Committee of Oxford University, and of the European Expert Network on Culture. His publications include Culture and Class, Democratic Culture, Capturing Cultural Value, Cultural Value and the Crisis of Legitimacy, Influence and Attraction, Creative Reading, Cultural Learning, and the co-authored The Cultural Leadership Handbook, All Together, and Cultural Diplomacy.
